There are 3 possible solutions for this issue :
1. Install FSRealistic in a different location than your Program Files. It works best if you install it on a different drive than your boot drive (your OS drive). A restart of the computer might be necessary.
If you already have profiles defined, make sure to copy your Profiles folder from the original location into the new one.
2. If you have installed FSRealistic in your Program Files, you will need to run MSFS as admin in order for it to be able to run FSR automatically. To do that, right-click MSFS executable, and choose Run as administrator
3. Make sure FSRealistic is not blocked by your firewall or antivirus software.
Thanks, rkApps.
FSR stopped working. I dont know why. The only thing I did was install GSX pro. I dont know how that could corrupt it, but everything was working before.
Theses instructions don't work.. I have done as explained and it still doesn't auto load.. I didn't have this problem when I originally installed it. Every since I uninstalled i and installed the new version this issue arised . Why can't you just have fix for this issue??
I resolved myself this annoying issue. I decompressed with Zip program, the installation .exe file to a temporary directory. That gave me to executables : - "FSRealistic_admin.exe"
and
- "FSRealistic_user.exe" I copied "FSRealistic_user.exe" in the installed FSRealistic directory and renamed it "FSRealistic.exe". No more need to launch as administrator. There seems to be an error in the installation process (or algorithm). It copies "FSRealistic_admin.exe" to "FSRealistic.exe" since the installation requires admin permissions. Hope this help.
Still won't start automatically 😓
Resolved on my end as follows:
- Uninstalled FSR from the first location I'd instaled it to (Program Files folder on system drive) and installed in its own folder on root directory of D: drive. (D:\FSRealistic)
- Then noticed that the original desktop shortcut still worked, and manually deleted the original install from the Program Files folder on the system drive - not sure why the uninstall did not remove it for me.
- Then because I am on Windows 11, I manually added it to the startup by pressing Windows+R keys, running "shell:startup", then selected the "New...Shortcut" option in the upper left and browsed to the FSR executable, then "Finish".
- This will make it show in the list when going to the Settings menu -> Apps -> Startup option, where you can then enable it to launch on startup.
On my old Windows 10 system that I just upgraded from, the launch on startup worked flawlessly by default ever since installing the first release of FSR (non-Pro version) so I will just chalk this up (in my case) to a Windows 11 UAC thing.

Moved to a different drive, fixed it..
Hi Everyone,
Try uninstalling it and reinstalling it on a different drive than the OS (if available).
Please report back if it worked for you.
I gave up with the autostart, I just start it as part of my preflight now.
I have FSR (v1.0.5) in Program Files, MSFS is Admin but still FSR not auto loading. Can you please advise?
I re-installed outside program files, start as admin and still no autostart either
New user, no autostart for me either, MSFS starts in Admin Mode always.
same issue here, program does not start automatically anymore
after messing around with this I find that auto start works so long as you install away from not just in the programs area but also the boot drive. I installed in another drive and magically everything works. Presume this is a MS priviledges thing.
Just re installed outside program files still will not auto start, worked fine on 1.04. Isn't there something about if it ain't broke....
I always run MSFS as Admin and it still does not start automatically for me as well.
I had MSFS already set to Admin. Still won't start automatically with latest version.
